Thursday |
|
May
19, 2009 - Taunton, MA - Furniture of southeastern
Massachusetts will be the topic of the May meeting of
the Old Colony Historical Society, 66 Church Green in
Taunton. On Thursday, May 21st at 7:00 p.m., Society
President, Dr. Cynthia Booth Ricciardi, will present an
illustrated lecture, All Roads Lead to Taunton, Part I:
Furniture. |
|
This
program, part one of a series which will place the
collections of the Old Colony Historical Society into
context with those of other museums, will be an
entertaining, as well as informative, study of the
contributions of artisans and craftsman from our region
to the broader field of decorative arts.
Recently,
Dr. Ricciardi had the opportunity to visit Winterthur
Museum and Gardens in Delaware, the country's premier
decorative arts museum, for the opening of the exhibit
Harbor & Home: Furniture of Southeastern

owners of our regional furnishings. Four of Old
Colony Historical Society's objects were loaned for this
exhibit, including its famous "Taunton Chest"
made by Robert Crossman in 1729.
As
always, this meeting is open to the public free of

Animal Shelter Pet of the Week: JACKSON |
|

|
May
14,
2009 - JACKSON is a male Am Staff, about 3 years old.
Jackson is a handsome, strong and muscular guy. We
recommend breed knowledge and a fenced yard would be
ideal. He would be happiest as the only pet in the home.
We also recommend no toddlers.
Jackson
is a smart boy and could benefit from obediance training.
He needs someone who will let him know they are the
"leader" and give him consistent rules
and structure.
Jackson
is friendly, affectionate and seems to like
everyone. He often reaches a paw out of his cage,
to tap you on the arm and get your attention. He
loves playing with all kinds of toys and loves great big
rawhide bones!
Jackson
is a sweet little boy at heart. He enjoys going for
walks and would be an excellent walking/jogging
companion. Please call the Taunton Shelter at
508-822-1463 or e-mail deanie7243@aol.com.
