Gunpowder Gelatine (Queen tribute) with 1977.
Gunpowder
Gelatine, the world's only all-female Queen
tribute, was conceived in 2005, as the
brainchild of life-long Queen fans Allison
Sigrist (bass) and Kelly Davis (lead vocals).
Audiences will be fascinated by the unusual
character of this band. The members of Gunpowder
possess a great command of vocals and pay a
powerful homage to very popular ‘70’s and
80’s band known for its musical diversity. It
is uniquely refreshing to hear classic Queen
songs enhanced with rich female overtones.
(Left
to right) Julie Perron, guitar, background
vocals Nancy Galluzzo, drums Allison Sigrist,
bass, background vocals Kelly Davis, lead vocals
Kate Dobroth, keyboards, background vocals photo
by Carla Osberg.
Sigrist
proposed the creation of the band to Davis in
2005 and it took two years for this “crazy
idea” to come to fruition. Nonetheless, in
September of 2007, Sigrist and Davis, along with
Nancy Galluzzo (drums), Kate Dobroth (keyboards)
and Julie Perron (guitar), plunged into Queendom
and debuted to a thrilled packed house at the
first annual Big Moves Queen for a Day show. The
opening date (September 5 th ) coincided with
former Queen band vocalist Freddie Mercury's
61st birthday.
Gunpowder’s
love for the music and dedication to replicating
Queen's live sound leave every audience they
play to begging for more. You can visit their
website to preview their music at: www.myspace.com/gunpowdergelatinemusic.
The
band 1977 opens for Gunpowder and performs the
best of punk, new wave and glam; not the radio
hits from the punk/new wave era, but the really
good stuff from seminal acts like The Clash,
Elvis Costello, Devo, Joe Jackson, Television
and anybody else who was making great sounds in
the late 70's.

The Rose Wharf Band (Grateful Dead and
beyond)
The
Rose Wharf Band has always been one of the most
popular bands in Taunton. Now with their new
selections from the Beatles and Tom Petty, and
some new Grateful Dead tunes, their dedicated
audience has a lot to be happy about. Their
following beams with pleasure and respect for
the music and then they are up and jumping,
swinging to the music. We would describe The
Rose Wharf Band as an excellent Grateful Dead
tribute, if their repertoire didn’t include so
many other great selections. We would describe
them as a great cover band if their musicianship
didn’t elevate the covers to such an
impressive degree.
Cover $5. Doors open at 7:00 PM. Show starts at
9:30 PM

Sen.
Marc Pacheco Named to Oversee Federal Stimulus
Funds
February
16, 2009 - Senator Marc R. Pacheco, (D-Taunton)
will lead a newly-formed committee to oversee
state spending of federal stimulus funds. The
Special Standing Committee on Federal Stimulus
Oversight will act on behalf of the legislature
to coordinate efforts with the administration to
maximize federal assistance for Massachusetts,
Senate President Therese Murray announced
Thursday.
State
Senator Marc Pacheco
Murray
also tapped Pacheco for major leadership roles
in the senate. He will continue to chair both
the powerful Post Audit and Oversight Committee
and the Global Warming and Climate Change
Committee. He will also sit on the Senate
Committee on Ways and Means, as well as the
joint committee on Telecommunications, Utilities
and Energy and the joint committee on Health
Care Financing.
President
Barack Obama is expected to sign the $787
billion federal stimulus package on Tuesday in
Denver and Pacheco said he wants to be sure the
cities and towns of Massachusetts will be
positioned to get their share of the federal
assistance to projects on the ground.
"We
intend to see that this assistance is used as
intended to pay for infrastructure projects, for
Medicaid, and for education, but most of all to
create jobs throughout the state and stimulate
the economy," Pacheco said. "The
taxpayers can be certain that we will be
watching very closely. We are here to give them
that accounting."
Pacheco
hailed Gov. Deval Patrick's statement that all
stimulus projects would be conducted under a
public bidding process, and bidders, contracts
and progress reports would be posted online.
"I
am pleased that the governor is committed to
transparency and accountability," Pacheco
said. "We will work in close coordination
with Governor Patrick."
The
committee will also review current state laws,
regulations and policies, and make
recommendations regarding changes that will
allow Massachusetts to access additional funding
or to spend money more quickly to stimulate the
economy, according to Murray.
The
special stimulus oversight committee will have
the ability to hold hearings on federal stimulus
plans, audit expenditures, and report back
periodically to the House and Senate, Murray
said. The joint committee will be led by the
chairs of the House and Senate committees on
Post Audit and Oversight with assistant vice
chairs from House and Senate Ways and Means
acting as vice chairs of the new committee.
